A-C-T : Unlocking Success- The Approach to Increasing Your Failure Rate

Here comes the A-C-T Blog! Here I give you an Awe moment from research or own experience, a Citation supporting the topic and a Take away for you to ponder on.

Awe moment

Whether it’s in business, science, sports, engineering or math, as you know, increasing your failure rate to increase your chances of success, is not a new concept. In fact, it’s one that has been mentioned in countless self-help podcasts or books and researched by many writers or entrepreneurs such as Eric Ries, Angela Duckworth and Grant Cardone. The idea of increasing your failure rate is simple to grasp, but why is it not as simple to implement?

“I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”

Thomas Edison

Take Away

If we look at the experiences of people like Gillian Tans, the Founder of Booking.com or Ernie Els, the great golfer, they like many others, have embraced increasing their failure rate, stayed committed despite many challenges and reached success, with one key thing in common- a growth mindset.

Without a growth mindset, you won’t remain disciplined and consistent, and therefore find it impossible to encounter failure constantly and continue. The journey brings many uncomfortable things to face, unpleasant feedback and internal battles. Only when you unlock the growth mindset, can you effectively choose how and where to increase your failure rate to reach the end goal, and remain committed until you reach the finish line.

So remember, you have not failed, you just found another way that won’t work. Failure does NOT define you! Instead, it teaches you what you wouldn’t have learnt, have you not failed and gives you the confidence to continue, now with increased knowledge and experience.

How specifically, could you increase your failure rate, to increase the chances of succeeding in achieving your goals?
